Ice Breaker
An ice-breaking workshop today, where we had to work in teams to translate our hopes and fears of starting the degree into a 3D object.....
My team created a spiral path with ups and downs, diversions and dead-ends to represent our the highs and lows of our artistic journey.

Coded Watercolour
I painted this yesterday as a response to a task set for our Visual Language class. The task was to "produce a piece which conceals some of it's meaning by means of code or other methodology"
Degree year 3 starts next week and all will be revealed on Monday!

The Clementines and the Black Pot
This is another in my clementines series - acrylic on 12mm block. It looks great on the wall without a frame, see the additional picture for scale.

Fried Eggs
I created these a while ago, but this is the first time I've had them on display. This is a 3D "sculpture" where you can only see the intended image from one direction, and at a distance. Close up it looks very strange indeed!

Another House on Another Hill
I wanted to do a few "loose" paintings after the recent still life compositions.
This is one I painted today. It's going in a nice white frame.

The Owls and the Giant Teacake
Completed this giant teacake picture yesterday. It's in acrylics on a box canvas. I started out in quite an orderly fashion with a 2 inch paint brush, but ended up moving the paint about with my fingers, as it was turning out a little too neat! Not sure if it's finished yet, but don't want to overcomplicate the image.
Finished off another 4 owls today too.
The Calderglen exhibition starts next week!

Clementines Part 2
Again acrylic on 6x6 inch block.
I've also added fixings to the back so that they can be hung directly on a wall without a frame. The fixing allows the block to "float" from the wall.

The Owls are coming...
The owls are returning to Calderglen this year.
Although I vowed not to do any more, as I move onwards and upwards in my art, they were very popular last year, so I decided that they will make one more appearance. There should be 20 available.

Watercolour Collage
After seeing the artworks of Ann Davidson at the RGI gallery a little while ago, I wanted to try my hand at this type of collage. Her collages are enormous and awesome. Mine is a little smaller, but not bad for a start I guess!

Chicken Road Safety
These posters were produced last year for a fictitious road safety campaign for chickens. They were produced from layered coloured card. I wanted the stylised look so went for just 3 colours and acute angles. I think they work well!
All 3 are likely to be displayed at the Calderglen exhibition.

The Teacake
I made a coffee and walnut cake for a friend disguised as a Tunnock's Teacake! The cake was covered in brown coloured fondant (not chocolate) and the wrapper was created with kitchen foil and red marker pen from a scaled up wrapper design.

Dots & Circles
One of my final Developmental Drawings, and probably my favourite. Two layers of tracing on a grey background. Black and white markers used to create the mirrored pattern. Looks almost 3D in real life!

Tracing Paper Drawings
A few drawings here for Develop Mental Drawing. These are based on existing drawings and at the moment you can see the wooden table top through the tracing. However they'll be mounted on coloured and/or textured paper to finish them off.
